Beginning October 2, 2026, employers and minors will use the new Youth Employment Permit Portal (YEPP). The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity will administer this centralized online system, replacing the current process in which schools issue work permits.
If you already have a valid school-issued permit, it will remain valid for your current job. You will need a new permit through YEPP if you change employers or begin working at a different worksite.
