August 2023

Dear Millington Community Schools Staff, Students, and Community,

I am writing to welcome you back to the 2023-2024 School Year and to share some information about myself.  I have been a member of our school community over the past twenty-one school years and have been honored to serve the district in the capacity of superintendent, principal, teacher, and coach.  This is my second year serving as superintendent of Millington Community Schools.  I have always felt very fortunate to be a part of our community and I have always been proud to send my own children to Millington Community Schools.

One of the things about Millington Community Schools that I am most proud of is the fact that we offer our students a wide variety of programs and services considering that we are a small school district.  We have a very caring and dedicated staff who work very hard to maintain the programs we already have, but also create new experiences for our students.  During the 2022-2023 School Year, Drama Club put on its first performance in several years and our Robotics Team advanced to the State

Finals in its inaugural season of competition. We are also excited to announce the launch of an ESports Program at Millington Jr/Sr High School this year.  Our elementary staff is working hard to meet the social-emotional needs of the students and some components of the Circles Program.  During the 2023-2024 School year, both of our buildings are staffed with a Behavior Interventionist and our staff K-12 will be reviving our CARDS Program.  We will also staff a Math Instructional Coach at Meachum Elementary School to improve instruction and student learning.  MALC is also returning to face-to-face instruction this year.  Our staff has always done a nice job meeting the needs of our students; this is evidenced by the fact that the graduation rate at Millington Jr/Sr High School continues to be one of highest in the state at over 98%.  During the upcoming school year, all students K-12 will receive both breakfast and lunch.

Over the summer, our staff has been working hard to prepare for the 2023-2024 School Year and I am confident that our team will rise to the challenge of meeting the needs of our students.  My goals for the upcoming school year are to continue to improve communication between home and school and to continue to find ways to be more efficient in our daily operations.  I am excited for the start of the upcoming school year and I hope you are too.  Please let me know if you have any questions or if there is ever anything I can do to help you out in the future.

Yours truly,

Steve Bouvy, Superintendent Millington Community Schools steve.bouvy@mcsdistrict.net
