Jeremiah has made tremendous strides throughout his tenure at Millington Community Schools. He is intelligent, witty, creative, and hardworking. He is very proud of his grades and takes initiative to do better. Jeremiah had a few ups and downs in his freshman and sophomore years. However, he started to flourish during his junior year and has been an outstanding student in Mrs. Olson's Marketing course at the Tech Center.
One of his nominators, Ms. Matinkhah, stated: "I am proud to nominate Jeremiah as our Turnaround Student, as he has demonstrated remarkable perseverance through personal and academic challenges. I first had the privilege of teaching Jeremiah in 5th grade. At that time, he was a quiet student who kept to himself, rarely participated in class discussions, and had few social connections with his peers. He often needed reminders to complete and submit his work."
"However, as the school year progressed, I saw glimpses of Jeremiah's personality emerging. Slowly but surely, he began to engage more and show signs of growth. As he moved into middle school, he faced increasing academic demands and quickly realized that he would need to put in even more effort to succeed. High school brought its own set of challenges, and as a staff, we worked closely to monitor his progress and keep him on the path to graduation-even when it wasn't easy."
Despite the obstacles, Jeremiah has grown tremendously. He has found a passion and purpose in his marketing class at the Tech Center, where he has thrived for the past two years. His involvement in DECA has helped him build meaningful relationships and set ambitious goals for his future.
"Jeremiah often visits me in the mornings, afternoons, and even before heading home for the day. Our conversations frequently remind him to stay focused on achieving his dream of becoming a pilot. I am incredibly proud of Jeremiah's resilience, growth, and determination throughout the years."
"I look forward to seeing all that he will accomplish after graduation."
Millington High School is proud of the young adult that Jeremiah Hackney has become.
